HOW MONEY RAISED WILL BE SPENT

On average, the annual running costs of an inshore lifeboat station such as Abersoch come to about £90,000 per year. As a charity that saves lives at sea with over 330 lifeboats covering 19,000 miles of coastline in the UK and RoI, the RNLI costs £147.7m to run each year. The RNLI Abersoch station currently operates an Atlantic 75 B class lifeboat. These rigid inflatable boats currently cost £180,000 to build and £12,217 per year to maintain in optimum condition. The Atlantic 75 at Abersoch was kindly donated by the late Margaret Bench of Solihull in the West Midlands and follows a tradition of generosity that has been shown by the people of Solihull and Wolverhampton - who raised money to provide the two previous lifeboats at Abersoch. The money raised from the Abersoch 10k will go towards kitting out and training the brave volunteer crew who are ready to save lives at see, what ever the weather, 365 days a year.
