MORE INFO

THE COURSE IS AWESOME. THERE'S A MILE OF BEACH WITH SOME GROYNES THROWN IN AT 0.6M AND A BIT OF SOFT SAND. THERE'S A TRACK AT 1.2M WITH A BIT OF AN INCLINE FOR 0.3miles (picking the right line up here will make it so much easier for you!). SOME UNDULATING ROADS FOR 3 MILES, BEFORE JOINING THE BEACH AGAIN & A MILE TO THE FINISH JUST BELOW THE YACHT CLUB.
SOME TIPS ALONG THE BEACH
The tide will be out during the race and so the best line to take along the beach is most likely one just below the soft sand on the hard sand. The fastest route through is almost certainly going to be below the line of the groynes. However, you run the risk of getting wet feet early on in the race. The most direct route will require hurdling the groynes. You'll need to go round the first one as it's too high to hurdle, this may be the same for the second one too (depends on the weather the week before the race!). There's definitely a 'best' line to take if you're going to hurdle the rest of the groynes. It's right on the edge of the soft sand line where the groynes tend to be only a foot high. The last option is to avoid the wet sand & hurdling altogether and take the soft sand line at the highest point of the beach where the groynes dissappear into the sand. Of course, we all know what it's like to run in soft sand though!!
It's worth taking a warm up jog along the beach before the start to check this area out. It will definitely help your time!
THE VIEWS
This course is stunning, so while you're running don't forget to take in the secenery. Views of Cardigan Bay, St Tudwals Islands, Hell's mouth & Bardsey Island, Abersoch itself & the golf course. This is the reason it will be such a memorable race. Take it all in & Enjoy it!
DRINK STATION
There will be a drink station at 4 miles where you will have a choice of either bottles of water or Powerade Isotonic Sports Drink. You will also receive a bottle of water at the finish and a choice of all 3 flavours of Powerade's Isotonic drink.
MARSHALS
Marshals will be positioned at all key points along the course. When approaching road junctions, they will guide you along the easiest, safest route. Please listen to their instructions and refrain from deciding on your own route. It will put both yourself & other road users in danger.
MILE MARKERS
There will be clear Mile Marker signs at miles 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. There will then be signs to count down 800, 600, 400, and 200 metres from the finish.
THE FINISH
The finish will be clearly marked at the end of the beach below the Yacht Club (It is also the start). You must cross the finish line and over the ChampionChip timing pad to get an authorised official finishing time. There will be a finish clock that will show the time from the gun, but your official time will be determined from when you actually cross the start & finish line, where the ChampionChip timing pad is positioned. Times will be available from the TDL Event Services Website up to 24 hours after the race.
MEDALS & GOODY BAGS
Medals and goody bags will be given to all finishers.
